
Hall of Fame Procedure

Mission Statement
The Ohio University Hockey Hall of Fame recognizes selected players, coaches or persons who have demonstrated meritorious service making a long-lasting impact on the hockey programs at Ohio University.
Process
- Nominees are divided into three categories, players, coaches, and meritorious service
- Former players, coaches or program administrators may make nominations for enshrinement into the hall. Blueline Booster members and friends of the Ohio Hockey program are also welcome to submit nominations to the hall of fame.
- A document, no longer than 750 words, detailing why the nominee is worthy of induction must include the player or coach’s statistics or specific examples of service supporting the nomination. The document is submitted to the current coach or the Blueline Booster Alumni Chair.
- No more than 3 inductees will be selected each year prior to the annual alumni weekend. The inductee(s) will be announced and presented with a small award at a luncheon or prior to puck drop of the Saturday night home hockey game of hall of Fame weekend.
- Nominees not selected will remain in a selection pool for consideration in subsequent classes with repeated nominations recommended. Suggested Criteria for Selection
Players
- Become eligible five years after graduation (required)
- Played hockey a minimum of two years at Ohio University and be a graduate of Ohio university required)
- Nominations should consider, but are not limited to the following accomplishments:
- All-American, All-League, and Honorable Mentions
- National or League Tournament MVP
- Academic All-American or All-League
- Exhibited leadership by serving as captain or Alternate Captain
Coaches
- Become eligible five years after the completion of their coaching tenure t Ohio University (required)
- Consideration should be given to coaches that have earned, but are not limited to the following accomplishments:
- Coached at least 3 years at Ohio University (required)
- Have a winning percentage of 70% or greater.
- National and/or league Coach of the Year recognition
Meritorious service
- Nominees shall have volunteered their time, expertise, and/or resources to the hockey program for a minimum of three years
- Nominees of this service award must have demonstrated significant exemplary service and contributions to the growth and development of the Ohio Hockey program.
Selection Process
- The Current Coach and Blueline Booster Board Alumni Chair will accept nominations.
- The Current Coach and Alumni Chair will check that the nominees meet the suggested criteria for enshrinement.
- The Alumni Chair will present the finding to the Blueline Booster Board for discussion and selection of the inductees.
- If a former player does not hold a position on the Board, one will be appointed to the selection committee for the discussion and final vote.
- Current members of the Blueline Booster Board and nominated for induction, will dismiss themselves from the selection process.
- The Blueline Booster Board must meet with at least two-thirds of the members. The decision to induct a nominee must be unanimous among the voting members.
- The Blueline Booster Board Alumni Chair is responsible for forming, setting up meetings and adjourning the selection process each year.
Recognition and Funding
- The Hall of Fame will be located in Bird Arena and administered by the Facility Director of Bird Arena.
- A Plaque (with picture) will be located in the upstairs mezzanine after induction.
- Funding will be provided through an endowment account in conjunction with Ohio Hockey to pay for the plaque and personal award. If an endowment account is not set up, the Ohio Hockey Blueline Boosters, with help from the Ohio University Alumni Association, will secure the funding.
