Ohio Bobcats take down Stony Brook Seahawks in 6-0 win

The Ohio Bobcats defeated the Stony Brook Seahawks with a 6-0 win this

weekend, bringing their overall record to (23-3-0).

The Bobcats had a scoreless beginning of the first period. Senior Luc Reeve

opened the scoring with a goal assisted by Lance Mengel and Brady Gilbert at

14:24.

“At that first 12-minute mark, they were all over us and we weren’t really able to

generate much of anything. Mengel made a great play; I kept the puck in, he made a

great pass and it was a good goal. Everybody in the building helped get us going

too.” said Reeve.

Just 20 seconds after Reeve’s goal, Sophomore Nolan Abraham made the game

2-0 at 14:44 with assists from Will Cohen and TJ Richey.

At the beginning of the second period the Seahawks were given a power play from

a high sticking call on TJ Richey. Will Cohen later took a minor penalty for tripping,

giving the Seahawks their second power play. The Bobcats held strong and were

able to kill off both power plays.

Junior Noah Holt gave the Bobcats their third goal with assists from Will Cohen

and Nolan Abraham. Senior Goaltender Matt Zazon had an intense collision at the

end of the second period, but still held the Seahawks scoreless with 18 shots on

goal.The Bobcats were given their first power play of the game which resulted in the

fourth goal of the game by Senior Drake Albers and assisted by Blake Dustin and

Jack Glen. Graham Broadfoot scored the fifth goal of the game at 17:30 with

assists from Kevin Kasper and Barron Stibbe. Lance Mengel scored in the last 20

seconds of the game with assists from Hollander Thompson and Tommy Kloepfer to

make the final score 6-0. Goaltender Matt Zazon blocked all 27 shots and acquired

his third shutout of the year.

“We want to maintain standards and expectations and be as consistent as we can. “

Said Coach Barry Schutte, “I think we could be a little more consistent. I didn’t

like our start tonight but overall I think we got stronger as the game went on.”

The Bobcats will be at Niagara next weekend for their second set of games against

the Eagles
